December 2-10, 2023
DiverMojo is delighted to return to Belize.
By request, we are returning to Reef Conservation International for our third visit!
This unique trip includes two nights in Placencia, two nights deep in the jungle of central Belize and five days as volunteer scientist divers.
We meet in Placencia on Saturday, December 2, and stay together at the Sea View Suites. On Sunday, after breakfast, you will have a tour of your choice, the opportunity to swim in the sea and to do a bit of souvenir hunting.
Monday to Friday, we will be on Tom Owens Caye, a one-and-a-half-acre island on top of the Belize Barrier Reef. This is the home of Reef Conservation International.
There we will help with conservation activities and have fun dives aplenty.
Friday morning we will leave Reef CI to head back to the mainland, where we will meet our transportation for the three hour ride into the rainforest.
December 8 - 10 we will be staying at the beautiful jungle lodge Table Rock in central Belize.
This remarkable and stunning lodge and farm are built with sustainability in mind. Table Rock has worked to preserve its natural surroundings using solar power, keeping the number of guest rooms limited, employing local villagers, and by replenishing one of Belize’s earliest natural resources–the mahogany tree. All electricity is produced onsite and the majority of the water for the lodge is supplied by purified rain and river water. In addition to experiencing the jungle canopy, guests are invited to gather exotic tropical fruits and visit with the donkeys, bunnies, and laying hens on the organic farm, which will provide our meals.
Soak in the saltwater Jungle Infinity Pool under the rainforest canopy, grab tubes and float the Macal River, or set out on a hike on the 105-acre preserve for birdwatching and wildlife sightings. There is plenty to explore Friday afternoon before our evening meal.
Saturday you will have an excursion of your choice, from cave exploration, Mayan ruins adventure, zip lining and a few other wonderful options. This may be a half day or full day tour.
Saturday evening we will have our last celebration dinner together and after breakfast on Sunday we leave by air conditioned bus for BZE for our two hour ride to our international flights home.
Please plan your flights to depart from BZE after 2:00 PM.
Our Trip: Experience Belize As Never Before
Below you will see details for the three exciting places where we will be staying. It is going to be a blast!
Sea View Suites Placencia
Sea View Suites is a boutique hotel. Situated in the heart of beautiful Placencia, Sea View Suites is only a short walk to the local village center where markets, banks, bars, restaurants and beaches are located. Relax on the rooftop deck with a full view of Placencia Village, the mountains, the lagoons, and the Caribbean Sea.
Plan to arrive as early as you can so that you have the day to explore the town. We will meet our group at the hotel and have dinner together at a local restaurant on Saturday.
After breakfast on Sunday you will have a tour of your choice. We will reconvene for cocktails and dinner and then be picked up Monday morning at the Hokey Pokey dock by the Reef CI boat for our hour-long ride to Tom Owens Caye.
Reef Conservation International
At Reef CI we will have a unique opportunity to protect the reef ecosystem by directly participating in marine conservation programs. Lion fish hunting, lobster surveys and coral farming are a few of the activities you and your buddy can choose. These will be interspersed with fun day and night dives and plentiful meals specially prepared for us.
Our accommodation will be VERY rustic, only sun-warmed showers all with a spectacular view. Air conditioning is not needed on the island, because it is located 25 miles off the mainland with strong trade winds. AND, there are no mosquitos or sand flies.
Food is freshly prepared by the Mayan chef and guests rave consistently.
We will learn how to remove invasive lionfish from the ocean and will eat them all!
Friday morning, after five wonderful days of diving and learning, we leave the island for Independence where we will meet our transportation to take us through the jungle to our weekend adventure at Table Rock.
Table Rock Jungle Lodge
Situated on a 105-acre jungle reserve along the Macal River, settle into 10 intimate, eco-friendly cabanas, nosh on farm-to-table cuisine, sip tropical cocktails, cool off in the infinity pool, and wander with resident donkeys through their working, organic farm.
Our all-inclusive stay includes organic food grown on Table Rock's own farm. There is so much to see and do here we will all want to come again next year.
